Fantastic school. I am so pleased with my daughter's teacher, how nice all the kids are, and the security of the school. We moved from an elementary school where we had so many negative experiences. Spokane Elementary is a breath of fresh air in comparison. My daughter has adjusted so well and went from crying almost every morning at her old school and not wanting to participate in any of the school plays and musicals due to paralyzing fear, to being a confident, happy kiddo. I couldn't be more pleased.

My son has been going here for 3 years now. I can't say enough wonderful things about the principle. He helped amazingly on his first day of school when my son was so scared. Any issues we have had he has addressed automatically. His style of Discipline is wonderful one time having my son write a paper to us about what he did wrong, why it was unsafe for him, the school and his other peers, and ending with plan to not repeat. Two out of the three teachers have been amazing, fun, structured, and passion for the kids. We did have a highly negative experience with one of them and her communication towards my son and others but we can't expect perfection. Compared from the school he came from this has been a wonderful experience

I feel a need to give an impartial, objective review of the school. I research the school prior to coming here and it had a great schools rating of 8. I thought that was pretty good. However I noted that this year it was a 6. Here are the reasons. One of the reviews says that there is no communication between the school and home. Other than the documents that the teacher sends home on a weekly basis, that is correct. When it comes to communication between the teachers and the parents or the principal and the parents, there is very little. You get the impression that the staff at the school is worn out. They don't seem to care much. Of course this is not all teachers, some of the teachers at the school are wonderful. But the overall feeling that you get from the school is that the teachers are tired and don't want to put out any more extra effort than they are forced to. With that in mind, do not expect your child to excel in this school. They are not going to. The teachers teach to the class as a whole, and there are no programs for bright students with the exception of an advanced math program for students to score extremely high on the school testing. If you are new to the area, I must warn you that people here are very close minded. They are not warm or open to anyone new. I can't explain it, other than to say that the school does not benefit by it. Having said that, if you are considering Lake Spokane Elementary, I would advise against it. Nine Mile Falls Elementary seems to have a much better program, educationally, than Lake Spokane Elementary. I hope this helps, I would hate to see someone who had researched the schools as intensely as I did, make the same mistake.

Wonderful school district with committed caring staff through all levels from elementary to high school.

The principal is really lacking in leadership skills and acts out maliciously toward students once he gets a taste of your child he won't let go and never forgets the man has no place in education.

I cannot say enough good things about the principal. On our daughter's first day, he got down on one knee to speak to her face to face (I haven't seen a principal do that before, so I must admit it impressed me) asking her where she was from and what she liked to do (intense conversation about building snowmen since we are from a state with no snow). Since then, any concerns we raised or help we needed were immediately considered with empathy and solutions were found. The whole school has a positive vibe from teachers to office staff, which, I believe, comes from him. Everyone is so friendly and positive. It seems to be the oasis in the nine mile school district desert. The other district principals could learn a thing or two from this man. He is a great leader and an excellent example for his staff and the students.

We moved here before school started and had high hopes for this school district, what a disappointment. The lack of communication is ridiculous. If you are moving here and your child is switching to this school don't expect them to make any effort to help your child adjust. My child has been crying when she gets home and doesnt even want to go to school anymore, I found out from her sibling that she has been crying at school to. Her teacher has never contacted me to let me know about any of this. As soon as I found out I tried contacting her teacher via phone and email (I also emailed the principle) and neither have bothered to call me or email me back. I would think her teacher would have at least made me aware of my child having break downs at school. Its ridiculous!!!

Great school as long as your child is not in special ed. They want every special ed kid to be taught in the same way and have them each learn in the same way. HELLO?? Special ed?? Pulled my son out after the second year of pulling my hair out and getting no where. Great principal--too bad he can't do anything to get the special ed dept to change. Some teachers are GREAT, too bad they aren't allowed t teach the children in the manner they know will work if its outside the box--oh boy, do they get in trouble for that! Very sad experience, waste of time, lost academic ground.
